Nature shapes us and
we shape nature
Since the beginning of time, nature and humanity are one
Our feelings, our thoughts, our actions
are a perpetual interaction with
the nature around us.
The water, the earth, the mountains
the air and everything we see, we feel,
we imagine.
They say:
without nature,
humans could not exist
without culture, humans would not be humans
but still, don’t forget:
We are nature in
human form
It is the relation of our life, the only consistent and
timeless relation of our life.
Sometimes we cannot see it or understand it…
…and sometimes it is visible, right there,
in front of our eyes.
Because it is nature that defines us
and it is nature that we leave our mark on
the footprint of our knowledge
our history, our culture.
What nature has inspired us what nature has allowed us.
How did we manage
the beauty
and awe
of nature?
Sometimes we created
sometimes we destroyed
in times, we conciliated
we bowed down before
its grandeur.
We built shrines of worship and
castles on top of the hills
we carved stones, we built theaters
we made ports, roads, dams and aqueducts
the monuments of human civilization
will always exist
to remind us
that nature will always exist for us
challenging our urge to create culture
Nature and monuments...
…Landscapes of co-existence. Perpetually tied together…
…Don’t search for the difference
Nature exists in all culture,
and in all nature, culture.
Observe and you will understand. The landscapes of co-existence.
The landscapes of interaction.
So, let's be cautious… (keep your eyes open)
When the climate changes… everything changes.
When biodiversity changes… everything changes.
When human values change…
history,
aesthetics,
politics,
tourism
…everything changes
So, don’t forget:
Everything is connected
If you learn to “read” landscapes
you will see that nature and
monuments
are one
Our one common
heritage
Nature and monuments are silent
