Unveiling the majestic seascapes of Santorini Caldera

The first MONA field mission, aiming to map and enhance the marine habitats and biodiversity in key sites within the Santorini Caldera (Cyclades, Greece), was successfully completed last week by the Institute of Oceanography of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR). Breathtaking underwater sceneries and habitats of high conservation importance were revealed, lying unsuspected at the foot of age-long monuments.
